Icewind Dale App Reviews

Classic

This is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. I love having a port for it.

Easy to play

I read some reviews by people saying this was buggy, but Ive gone almost all the way through without any issue. This is no Baldurs Gate, but its reasonably fun for a linear-kill-fest with a role playing veneer.

Wish I could write review

Better be worth the 3hr download time it took to even start this game

Awesome!!

Every game this big is bound to have a few bugs... BUT! This game is a true RPG Classic- complete character creation with tons of options, weapons galore, conversation choices that impact the story while and most of all this game paved the way for all following RPGs.

Needs a game manual or walk throughs

The game is obviously playable based on all the 4-5 star reviews but if you are not familiar with the genre then it is nearly impossible to get any real enjoyment out of the game as you spend way too much time with game mechanics and such. There isnt even a game manual even though the developers web site has a section labelled "Manual" but there are not ANY! Only the latest Release Notes and a video that is less than two minutes long. Even a pop-up label in response to long presses on a game buttons that days what they are would go a long way. All the disjointed 2-4 second videos in the games help is a nuisance more than a help since they are out of the actual game play. Oh, by the way...it runs just fine on my tablet.

Great game!

I played this along time ago, when I saw it on IOS, I had to get it. Did not disappoint. I played it for hours and hours now. Id rate 5 stars, but there is always room for improvement. They do need to do something about removing stacks from containers. A cloud backup or something would be nice, I got a new iPad, and had to start from scratch, but the game kept me engaged enough I did not mind. Its really a good buy.

Noooo

Paid the $10 and was excited because I love the genre. However upon playing it makes absolutely no sense and theres no walkthrough so I was completely lost in the mechanics....I should have read more reviews I suppose. Now Im out $10....:(

Cluttered

Too much on the screen and all of it too small. Difficult to see, even more difficult to tap anything. I tried this on iPad, and the font is tiny to the point of illegibility. I cant imagine how bad it is on iPhone or iPod touch. Dont bother wasting your money.

Dont listen to the ppl who say its to hard for average ppl

I hate that so much. All that does is make people fearful thus not playing the best game-s (I personally like baldurs gate the best) ever. I have a learning disability so trying to remember all the spells and their icons and what dispels certain spells is very hard. I forget the sentence I read as I read it over and over again. BUT these games are the only games I would put so much effort into because its just so beautiful I personally enjoy reading and I just keep pushing through and eventually it falls into place. Over time you pretty much know the basis of all spells and counter spells and its pure enjoyment. So the point is if you have trouble learning things that average people can grasp very easily dont be put off by all these comments. Just read a tiny bit online the game does all the d&d work for you its just knowing what the stats mean really. If you want a hack and slash type get icewind if you want more quests and storyline get baldurs gate. I started with icewind actually and its great Just do it dude

Impossible to play on 5s

Just confirming that you need a 6 or 6s to even begin controlling the chaotic fights. Amazing port and cannot wait to get a larger phone to play this.

Excellent job!

This is a pretty amazing port (for those unfamiliar, this gem is originally a PC game). As a game now touch/tap-centered, they did a great job. Its actually comfortable as compared to the point-and-click original. My only complaint are a couple of inventory problems.. For example, if you place multiples of an item inside of bags or things of that nature, and you have say 10 of that same item, you have to manually add each one as opposed to select a quantity or all at the same time. Its pretty horrible if youve picked up a decent collection. Other than that, Im very happy. Im a die-hard fan of the original.

Great pc port! Looking for multiplayer friends!

Add me on skype for friends to play online Esowholesalerps4european Played this whole series on pc, excited for seeing icewind dale 2! Flawless port great job beamdog! Keep it coming! Advanced d & d game for hardcore players!

Awesome

So awesome. Been waiting on this to be available and now it is. Works great on my iPhone 5s. For all u whiners that say its too hard, they have walkthroughs for ur nonexistent imaginations. Played the pc version and this doesnt leave u wanting for more. Worth the buy. If u like involved story lines and rpgs this is the game for u

Make the game a little harder why dont you

HOW expansion is too hard. Too many places where your party walks into a room and dozens of very powerful monsters jump on you from the start with no chance to prepare or use the attributes of magic users/ thief players, etc. I try multiple ways to defeat the monsters in the room before I give up and switch to story mode just to get through the task at hand. If I had known that this was how half of the game would go I would have just made 6 fighters and reduced the game to something out of the Nintendo era. I end up playing large sections of the game in story mode- which I hate- because otherwise my team is slaughtered before I have a chance to even realize what Im fighting in the room I just entered. I enjoyed BG, would love to see Torment available but this game was made far too difficult to enjoy.
